Position Overview:

Reporting to the Intake/Investigation Supervisor, the Intake Screener will receive incoming calls related to child protection. Manage proper distribution of case documentation to supervisor. Must be familiar with The Ontario Risk Assessment Model and Eligibility Spectrum. The worker will directly assist the Intake/Investigation Workers and the Intake/Investigation Supervisor. As per the direction from Tikinagan's Board of Directors and by Chiefs resolutions, and in order to work in the true spirit of Tikinagan Mamow Obiki-ahwahsoowin Service Model, Tikinagan has been moving services and staff positions to the community level. The direction for the agency is to continue to decentralize staff to the First Nations served by Tikinagan.

Qualifications Desired:

  • Post-secondary education and beginning social work training or equivalent preferred.
  • Knowledge of Child, Youth and Family Services Act is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Child Protection Standards and tools in Ontario is an asset
  • Excellent Computer and Keyboarding skills
  • Good analytical skills to review documents and check forms.
  • Be aware of the cultural environment of Tikinagan Child and Family Services operates.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to speak one of the Indigenous languages is an asset.
  • Must be able to show initiative and work independently.
  • On the job training will be provided.
  • Valid driver's license or willingness to obtain one.
  • No remote work available.
  • No relocation assistance available.
  • Travel is a requirement.
