COMMUNICATIONS ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

 

The Communications Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing professional administrative services, inventory management, and various supports for Tikinagan’s Communications Team. The Communications Administrative Assistant’s work is guided by our Mamow Obiki-ahwahsoowin Service Model – everyone working together to raise our children – as well as the vison, values, and goals of the Communications Department.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Order, maintain, and distribute printed and promotional material inventory for communities and events
  • Draft and distribute internal correspondence, including weekly and monthly newsletters
  • Assist Communication Supervisor with various tasks, such as analytical and budget reports, surveys, PowerPoints, team scheduling, and purchase orders and payments
  • Provide support to Communications team with internal communications projects and external campaigns
  • Oversee website chatbot and other online messenger platforms
  • Produce and edit communication materials, such as social media posts, webpage updates, and event posters
  • Assist Management Support Team with preparation for meetings, conferences, and other events
  • Regular travel to Tikinagan communities and offices
  • Take minutes and following up on action items during meetings when needed
  • Maintain databased for projects, media engagement, and sponsorships
  • Liaise with other services units as deemed appropriate, and provide project-specific support to staff, as required
  • Other duties as required

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Communications-related experience or education preferred
  • Ability to speak and/or write one of the Nishnawbe-Aski language dialects is an asset.
  • Good customer service and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Be aware of the cultural environment in which Tikinagan Child and Family Services operates.
  • A valid Ontario Driver’s License is an asset.
  • Must be able to pass a Criminal Records Check.
  • Must be willing and able to travel when requested.
